CD RADIO SIGNS UP SPEEDVISION AND OUTDOOR LIFE NETWORKS (thanks to Phillips Telecom)
  Satellite-to-car radio broadcaster CD Radio Inc. [CDRD] will broadcast programming for Speedvision Network and the Outdoor Life Network for vehicle and outdoor enthusiasts. Financial details were not disclosed, but the programming will be based upon the Speedvision and Outdoor Life cable TV networks and will be carried exclusively on CD Radio channels 64 and 65 when CD Radio begins commercial service next year. 
  Speedvision provides comprehensive programming for people who are passionate about cars, boats, planes and motorcycles. Outdoor Life is a network devoted to the adventure and outdoor enthusiast. (Madeline Couton, CD Radio, cdradio.com, 212/899-5000.)
  VERTEX COMMUNICATIONS WINS CD RADIO ANTENNA DEAL (thanks to Phillips Telecom)
  Vertex Communications Corp. [VTEX] subsidiary Vertex Antenna Systems LLC (VAS), of Santa Clara, Calif., will supply two tracking, telemetry and command (TT&C) antenna systems to Loral Skynet [LOR]. The contract is valued at about $8 million and Loral will use the TT&C systems to communicate with CD Radio Inc.'s [CDRD] space network. Space Systems/Loral is constructing CD Radio's three satellites. Loral Skynet will operate the birds. 
  The turnkey systems will be installed in South America to allow continuous monitoring of CD Radio's three satellites. Each system consists of two 11-meter, full-motion, tracking antennas, an equipment shelter, and all of the radio frequency and intermediate frequency electronics. The antenna systems will be remotely controlled from CD Radio's headquarters in New York. Design, manufacture, and installation is expected to be completed during the next 12-months. 
  Vertex Communications designs and manufactures satellite communications Earth station products for worldwide commercial and government use.
