Why is the stock trading near book value if this huge upside is on the way?

You might have asked the same question in August 99, when Athlon processors first started trickling into the market. (Only 200K were sold from June thru Sept. 99) AMD's stock price was about $8 then and hit $45 less than a year later. In '99, you had a second chance to get AMD at $8 until the first quarterly report that included significant Athlon revenues.

An October intro is looking more and more likely. I suspect there won't be that second chance, four months after intro, this time around because the product transition will be much more rapid than the chipset-hampered Athlon introduction. You had better get onboard before October.
