Hello NR,
You are correct that there are very little expectations
from CPQ as demonstrated in this audio. In fact, in this interview the possibility of a shortage was mentioned with the analyst predicting no shortfall but anything could happen. There is also a possibility of an upside surprise
(nothing like hedging a bet). As Victor, El, and others mentioned and as management has demonstrated, non-core assets could be factored to meet/exceed the estimates but
probably won't garner much W.S. support.
So it looks like CPQ can pretty much complete the writedowns
without retribution PROVIDING they supply guidance
and a really silver tongued devil for analysts.
