I think I understand your question. My feeling (and observation) is that the upper and lower BBs paired with the RSI is the best predictor of the exact price pivot points for stocks than a moving average by itself.

On the other hand, using a moving average plotted to monitor mutual funds is excellent! In mutual funds you don't have the volume, stocks data. The daily fund performance (NAV) confirmed by the DOW, NASDAQ, or an fund index would be the equal for mutual funds.
