Erik: Compaq has to consider two other things (besides your points):

1. Iomega cannot supply them with internal IDE Zip drives in the 4th Quarter. All of those announced Zip OEMs from this summer are slated to start shipping in Q4. They would have shipped sooner (i.e. in timer for Xmas) if they could. Compaq will have to wait in line, so why announce now?

2. Compaq will be doing Iomega a big favor when they announce an OEM deal for the Zip. They will extract a price (i.e. a LOW price) for this if they time it right. If they time it wrong, they will pay a HIGH price for it.
