Hi Tito,
I bet you paid less for that new monitor than you did for the old one
and the new one has more and better features. How long do you
expect to keep the new monitor before you replace it 3 years? 5 years? You will keep it until it has no value, same as 95% of the
consumer market, same with most consumable products. Just
how many monitors, cell phones, utility appliances does an
individual need. Once a consumer buys a product he will
"wear it out" until it becomes obsolete thus he is a 1 time
purchaser, short term. This is part of the cyclic nature of consumerism
whereby, there is no need for new purchases until something better
or cheaper to buy or operate comes along. It follows the cycle of
industiral development and innovation.
$500 computers are now a reality, but the margins are really low as is the cost to manufacture, this means margins will be squeezed even
lower, and this is only 1 example.

More, faster, cheaper but with lower profit margins per device.

Quite a dillema, huh?

regards,
BB
