======================================================

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif, Feb 18 (Reuter) - Sun Microsystems
Inc said Tuesday it bought <LongView Technologies LLC>, a
closely held software company, for an undisclosed cash amount.
The seven engineers of LongView, based in Palo Alto, Calif,
will join Sun's JavaSoft software unit to help Sun improve its
Java computer programming language, the companies said.
In a conference call with analysts, Sun officials declined
to disclose details about LongView's technology and how Sun
will use it in its products. Sun also declined to say how much
it paid for LongView, but said it paid cash.
The companies will reveal more details about their plans at
the JavaOne trade show in April.
