Brian -
why don't you write some out-of-money covered calls on your shares?
Wouldn't I have an ordinary income liability from this? I must admit I'm not too sharp on the tax impact of the various strategies.

what's your estimate of Dell's growth for the next 12 months and the next 3 years?
This is just a swag and not backed by the kind of intelligent financial analysis that other contributors make. I would put revenue growth at or near 50% next year, dropping into the 40's in 2000. EPS growth in the low 40's next year, dropping to the high 30's in 2000. I base this on a rough trend analysis and my personal opinion on the impact of a slowdown in enterprise penetration on margins. These are very early thoughts, I'm still testing a lot of my assumptions.
