Ken, I should think that DVD and Jaz are highly complementary. Jaz drives, stacked as a RAID (Random Array of Inexpensive Disks - or something like that), as well as high density hard drives stacked as a RAID are being used used now in the movie industry to store movies as digital. The ideal thing about RAIDs is that an entire movie stored on one can be edited without ever cutting film and without loss of quality. The ability to randomly access the movie frames and rearrange them is very powerful. The DVDs are to be used to store the movies after they have been edited and then serve as a distribution medium to the masses - not for handling the original editing functions. Later versions of DVD may very well be used to capture the original movie or video, but it'll be a while before: 1) DVD re-writable drives become generally available, and 2) the re-writable drives become cheap. Note that re-writeable CDROM drives are not yet cheap.

In short, Jaz will help the DVD become successful.
