Just imagine NITE gets a flurry of buy orders @ the top of a huge momo play. Oddly NITE hangs on the bid w/ 100 shares while ISLD hightails it south. You think NITE might be filling his buy orders out of inventory before he drops his bid? Bet you'd be glad to be on the receiving end of that buy order fill huh? But hey! you only paid 12 bucks commish thru that dandy national discount broker. Or better yet, you're trying to get a market order sell thru NITE but your order is delayed while NITE yanks his bid AFTER he is done filling his buy orders out of inventory at the top and fills you several points lower. Myth or reality? Conflict of interest? nahhhh
