It sounds like our stock market experience is very similar, except I started just a couple of years earlier. Like you, I tried my hand at call options (in the early 1970s, I think). My first few trades were unbelievalby profitable, considering the very small amount I was "investing" at the time. Then I ran into a huge loser - - that taught me what the options game is all about. I haven't traded options since.

Unlike you, my early market timing efforts were only marginally profitable. I found that my most successful method was to dollar-cost average into quality growth stocks over a period of many years.
