I think what is more likely to happen is that the democratic party will clean house and it will pull itself back to the middle.

I think it will go the other way. The hard left are the ones who are willing to put in the organizing effort between elections. They and the Labor Union bosses will stay in control of the party mechanism. They will be the foot soldiers and the County Chairmen.

The wild card in this mess is that a Kerry loss means a Hillary nomination. It will be hers if she wants it. I don't think there will be a serious candidate against her. She will win so big in the first set of primaries that it will be all over.

So the Democratic party will be run by left, Unions, and trial lawyers. With Hillary fronting for them.
