Listen Lane, there are some folks that are serious about this debate and care about the outcome for pragmatic reasons. And there are some that only care about the debate for political and/or ideological reasons.

I take your point.

But there's another point here. There are folks who cite the participant of drug companies and other players as evidence that the plan is a good idea, one that the drug companies and other players believe in. (Seems to me I recall your saying or suggesting something to that effect.) While it's certainly possible that they support it for the good of the country, it's also possible that they support it because that's where they see the greater likelihood of profits. Could be a bit of both.

The latter may be apt or it may be cynical. The former may be apt or it may be dreamy-eyed. I took the the transaction between you and Node as a manifestation of that difference, not of the lack of seriousness by either party.
