Because, ain't no f'ing way 300 tons of explosives were casually looted by Tom, Dick, and Mustapha using shopping carts or backpacks.

We didn't have enough boots on the ground to guard all the places that needed to be guarded. We had guards at the Ministry of Oil Building but not at this dump.

If we had several hundred thousand troops as the Army Chief of Staff testified, this place would have been guarded.

Rumsfeld wanted to prove that he was right and Shinseki was wrong. He wanted to prove that he could fight this war on the cheap. Big ego. Big screw up.

I could see some of the reasons you thought this war had to be fought - but do you have to defend all the screw ups?

I could see that you could provide all the geopolitical arguments for your position on this situation, but why do you need to defend Bush and or Rumsfeld?
