Caxton: Here's an article.... www2.marketwatch.com Sprint PCS will utilize Qualcomm's (QCOM: news, msgs) SnapTrack technology, through which satellites and triangulation -- as well as the GPS chips in the phones -- can be used to track down a caller. By contrast, the nation's largest carrier, Verizon Wireless (VZ: news, msgs) , said it would use a network-based solution to fulfill the mandate. There are press releases that VZ has done location w/i the network. One of them systems is made by a company called True Position..... There are positives and negatives about doing location in the handset. If one is to do location within the handset, all handsets must be GPS enabled, therefore, users will have to purchase a new phone. I think that is a negative for consumers. A positive to GPS w/i the phone is that (at this point in time), GPS is more accurate.... dave
