Is Rush Limbaugh doing "thought experiments"? I seriously doubt it. Demagogues don't need to do analysis. They just spew. Their true believers mindlessly lap it up while the opposing true believers become apoplectic, which plays right into the the hands of said demagogues. You and I, OTOH, who fancy ourselves intelligent, thoughtful citizens who want to support whatever is in the best interests of our country ought to be studying and analyzing so that we can determine what is in the best interests of our country. Counterpunching the likes of Limbaugh is an understandable instinct but it's no substitute for thoughtful analysis. It just pits mindless camp against mindless camp.
