I have a question for anyone with experience in the trading of stocks announcing acquisitions and/or mergers!!

Typically, which way does the stock go when a public company acquires a private company.

My experience is with public companies acquiring other public companies. Usually the stock price of the acquiring company goes down!

When a public company acquirers a private company does the acquiring company price typically go down?

Thanks in advance.

Matt
