I was just informed today that Kabila is supported by Nato, the USA and other people with money and it made me laugh despite what you said. I still don't see the benefit that the USA got by supporting Mobutu. Did we want a poor country that is unstable? Did we want the embarrassment of an imbecile like Mobutu? Did we reap huge economic gains from the resource base of the Congo? How did we win? The people and the country are a disaster. Is that what the US policy determined? What delicate balance of power am I missing? Did some of the money end up in US politicians bank account along with the Mobutu sweep? Save us the misery of looking up the account of the various and continuing rebellions! Tell us what the issue is and who benefits. I'm not being purposefully naive here I'm just a little thick.

Don't get me wrong here. I'm no diplomat but you could be feeding this thread a bunch of bull and just because you are there and we are here you will be perceived to be the expert.
