Brett & Al, No news at all on Comverse today, but ...
Perhaps the buying is related to the earnings surprise of ADC
Telecommunications which gained ~ 5 points to over $53 / share
on Tuesday.

Also the Mergers and Aquisitions bandwagon keeps rolling,
(announced Monday):

MCI signed a major contract with NextWave Telecom Inc.,
a small but well-financed San Diego start-up.

WorldCom will spend $12.5 billion is stock to acquire
MFS Communications.

Maybe the "smart money" likes communications stocks again?
