I agree that many people confuse equal opportunity with equal results. In this country everyone has a chance to get an education. Society even demands it, holding the parents responsible if the children aren't provided with an education. The quality of that education, on the other hand, is highly suspect. My sister home schooled her kids for a year because she wasn't happy with the way the public schools were teaching them. It was a (heck of a) lot of work for her and the kids hated it. The kids tested over two grades higher the next year. The oldest was home schooled for 2 years and graduated high school with honors at the age of 15.

How come every time a municipality wants money it's for education yet most kids in the suburbs today CAN'T correctly count change at the corner store?

equal opportunity doesn't, and never will, provide equal results.
