I was having much the same conversation with Orca today. He can't seem to grasp the difference between people touted as newscasters and those who are pundits or op/ed types. I entirely agree that it's fraudulent for people to claim to be objective reporters when they're really editorializing, and that's true whether they are on the left, right, or some other direction. The readers/viewers/listeners simply have to be smart about how they evaluate the source of the data. I rather like this site and the spin city site linked there: lyinginponds.com Alas, there are so many people around SI entrenched in their own POV such that they are no longer capable of critical assessment. Any source with which they agree is unbiased, fair and neutral whereas any source with which they disagree is evil, dishonest and biased. It would be funny if it were not such a sad commentary.
