Hi all; EvilDoctorSmith still pumping the bus:

Re: Modest gains for DDR333
EvilDoctorSmith, TMF Rambus thread #57933, February 22, 2002

This is the kind of stuff you get when you let the management make "carved-in-stone" decisions without consulting their brightest technical people. It happens all the time in the tech industry, where the deals are made on the golf course and not decided in the lab.

You don't get an MBA to tell you which technology will meet your needs 5 years down the road, you get a PhD in EE, or the equivalent. You get the MBA to tell you something simple, like "Will people be looking for faster computers in 5 years?" Something they can understand.

To be fair, these guys probably consulted their best technical people and then ignored them or badgered them until they heard the answer they wanted in the first place.

What's particularly funny about this post is that it imputes to DDR exactly the tactics that Rambus used to get design wins. Intel's engineers kicked and screamed when management made them use RDRAM.
