That's the entire problem. Everyone wants to throw the bums out but they're talking about YOUR bum, not THEIR bum. Incumbents in Congress get more power the longer they stay in. If they can become Committee chairpeople of powerful committees then they can get all the pork they need.

Pork makes people who get the pork very happy. They keep their guy in.

It's the system that sucks and encourages corruption. Now there's the redistricting bs which encourages drawing of oddly shaped Congressional districts precisely to keep incumbents in power.

It's ridiculous. Term limits, publicly funded campaigns, open debates, better investigative journalism, cynical voters who actually vote....all necessary.
