The damage Edward Said did to America is hard to measure. I say this because he overturned our ME departments and turned them into outlets for the Arab POV. Said did the Arabs a disservice. It justifies their backwardness. "Don't question the brown people, you nasty racist Imperialist colonialist oppressor". They've needed questioning for a long time, and alot of prodding to boot.
