Hi Dr. Id; Re: "and besides I see enough of it at the office .com"
For an interesting delusion, try this post:
Dr. Id, May 3, 2001 I'm a little curious. Who pays Scumbria and Bilow? #reply-15749367
Well, they do say that psychologists are all a bit nuts. And what would you expect of one who bought into a cult stock?
To see what the rest of humanity thinks about you and your cult buddies, read this collection of letters to the editor:
Letters My recent editorial on Electronic News’ long-term coverage of the relationship between Rambus Inc. and Intel Corp. (Electronic News on the Rambus Trail, Oct. 23, 2000 [see #reply-14645083 ]) seems to have struck a nerve. We received more responses on that editorial than any single article in the newspaper this year. However, most of the feedback we received exhibited the same kinds of abuse and attacks I mentioned in that editorial. Many of the responses were strictly infantile rants, others made unsubstantiated or inaccurate statements, while still more made groundless attacks on the credibility of the newspaper. A small minority made an attempt to disagree in a mature, reasonable and respectful manner. Here is just a sample of the mail we’ve received. ... Lastly, what the heck! Rambus own (sic) them all anyways (sic) — DDR, SDRAM, RDRAM, FCDRAM and all future memory architectures. They win in the longer run. I encourage you to buy Rambus stock for your personal account because it is going to triple in the next two years. Once you buy the stock, stop being a hypocrite and bashing a company with enomors (sic) potential. Stay tuned for more licensing agreements over the next six months and the stock to soar! ... What's really hilarious about the above article is that it was written at a time when Rambus was still riding high. The next six months that the Rambus faithful were convinced would bring them wealth beyond measure turned out to financially destroy a lot of them, and caused at least one to kill himself. Suicide is not a great positive sign of mental stability. Also, do note that at the time that Electronic News published these rants while Rambus was trading above 5x the current price. It's probably time to take another look at that Electronic News articles that so infuriated the Rambus faithful. How accurate was it? I'll go post a reminder in a minute.
Another hilarious description of the Rambus morons is in the documents from the Infineon trial. It seems that Rambus cultists also bombarded the court with abusive phone calls, e-mails and letters. It must be pretty rough to suddenly discover that you're not a genius and you're not going to become wealthy.
It's not me who's been disconnected from reality and hostile. I don't have any posters on "ignore". I'm not the kind of nut case who does stuff like calling up Scumbria at 3AM and leave death threats on his answering machine. Not that I have any knowledge of such an act, but it would be right in line with typical Rambus cult member behavior. Take a look at this transcript from the Infineon case:
Judge Payne .... Now I know from -- my secretary printed out a number of thiese things [news articles?] after -- we finally had to disconnect our telephone, we had so many telephone calls, about wondering when our opinion was coming out. And some of them were really somewhat hostile, accusing the Court staff of leaking things, and causing people to loose[sic] money, and all that kind of thing. ... rambusite.com [page 6]
It takes a real stupid nut case to call up the Judge who's deciding your case and accuse him (or his staff) of dishonesty -- before the trial.

P.S. And who did Scumbria turn out to be paided by, anyway? |
