Hi all; Nanya profits from DDR:

Nanya reaps DDR harvest
Raking in the revenues

Mike Magee, March 7, 2002
TAIWANESE MEMORY FIRM Nanya, like Via and FIC a subsidiary of mighty Formosa Plastics, is forecasting a vast boost in its revenues this spring because of sales of double data rate (DDR) memory.
The firm told the Taiwanese press that its February sales rose 181 per cent compared to the same month last year, largely boosted by sales of DDR DRAM.

The Economic News further reported that Nanya is able to extract 25 per cent more for its DDR memories through contract sales, rather than sales on the spot market.

If this figure is true, that means PC manufacturers are scrabbling around for memory to stick in their DDR based PCs - and also means the price of memory is bound to continue rising.

Sales to PC makers form accounted for nearly a third of its total revenues in February, and Nanya predicts that figure could be as much as two thirds by April. A 128Mbit chip sells for $5, a 256Mbit chip for $10, Nanya said. Those prices will hold steady until April. µ
