Hi Alan Hume; Just exactly a year ago, you wrote: "I ceased to contribute to this thread after the intrusion of the professional disrupters. But, I happened to glance at a current DELL catalogue last night, and notice that out of the 10 desktop models being offered, 7 of them included RDRAM. At the last time I read this thread last fall, RDRAM was pronounced dead. Unless DELL has made a massive fu with their logistics, this would hardly appear to be the case."
Have you looked at Dell's line-up more recently?

Thank you for your views. But first of all, my forecast is a mid-term forecast (say 6-12 months out) Secondly, I think your long term PE of 20 is way too low. Consider, the forward PE of the NAS100 is currently 53. This foreward PE is based on their predicted earnings averaged over the next 3 years good luck #reply-14267238
intel has reiterated their support for RMBS this week with the statement that it is the only memory for the high end. Which can be read as what is highend today, is middle of the road tomorrow, so this too bodes well for RMBS. But the biggest unknown, is the DDR and SDR patent issue. Were they to be recognised, then the 200 would (for a time at least) be surpassed. But frankly, if in the mid term the PE settles at 60 and earnings are acheived of $2.50 this would give us a price of $150. I think that is a reasonable target #reply-14259012
DDR, if it ever gets there that is, DDR will land in the same basket as the electric car, the water burning engine, cold fusion and many other great paper ideas. #reply-14254239
Henry, you absolutely right! now if I were in your position, I would a) add to my 81 short position to the limit my margin will allow b) go get myself an overdraft, and c) buy myself a case full of fresh underware #reply-14253960
first references of DDR go back to the 70's and I aware of a prototype about 8 years ago. In the past 2 years, amongst all the hype there have been 3 delays, and it is still "next year" At the risk of being considered too old fashioned, I have been around long enough to believe what I have and what I see and be skeptical about technology with severe pre-natal problems. The tenure of many of the postings here leads me to believe that many of the subscribers still believed in Santa Claus until well into their late 30's. #reply-14205506
Carl, you have written a critical and somewhat humorous post on PixelFusion. Then you shoot yourself in the foot referring to their plans as "vapor ware". Discounting a few lab prototypes and a lot of talk, I conclude that DDR has produced far more vapor and certainly burned a factor more dollars than PixelFusion is ever likely to do. #reply-14205361 |
