Question of the day: Is that particular prospect any more daunting than the upcoming Iraq occupation? Sort of the devil you know versus the other one, in my view.

But your point goes to my primary issue with the Iraq situation. Once we're in, Iraq is our problem for the indefinite future. On the other hand, I used to worry that having the military tied down long term in Iraq was a problem, now I'm tending to think of it as a solution.
