SERVICE SECTOR / DeTECH Corporation Signs Agreement With Imperial Oil Limited
(ESSO) of Calgary

Tuesday December 23, 1997
Company Press Release

DeTECH (DTK/ASE) Victor Roberts, President and C.E.O of DeTECH Corp. is pleased to announce that it has renegotiated the TekSCENT License agreement with Imperial Oil Limited of Calgary. The previous TekSCENT agreement dated October, 1995, was non-exclusive. This agreement represented the principal asset for DeTECH's February, 1997 major transaction. A new license agreement has been signed and will take effect January 1, 1998 which gives DeTECH, an exclusive worldwide license for the TekSCENT pipeline leak location system (excepting the U.S.). U.S exclusivity requires a separate agreement with Exxon Production and Research of Houston Texas. Discussions will be undertaken to renegotiate that agreement as well. The new exclusive license will enable DeTECH to control the commercialization of TekSCENT through the sale and sub-licenses to qualified companies.

Developed by Esso Chemicals (Imperial Oil Limited) in the early 1990's, TekSCENT was the recipient of the Governor General's award for environmental technologies. TekSCENT couples a patented proprietary chemical with specially trained canine detectors. With a sensitivity measured in parts per billion / billion, TekSCENT is the most sensitive and accurate method in existence for locating leaks in oil and gas pipelines.
