CNBC did an story Tuesday night on the Redux/Phenfluramine recall. They included an update on FDA reforms which did not seem to be impacted by the recall. The reforms are sailing through Congress with bipartisan support and include a provision that allows drug companies to promote off label uses. The Redux/Phenfluramine recall also demonstrates that is wasn't the off-label combo that was causing the heart problems. The fen part in Phen/fen is not being recalled. Phenfluarmine and its chirally pure version, Redux, are being recalled.
