Hmmmm... Interesting analysis. I don't think anything will change if Bush is reelected though. We'll continue the blatantly militaristic foreign policy. In fact, I've read that the neocons are lining up other possible target countries like Iran and Syria. While Kerry will continue American militarism, because he doesn't want to seem weak to the conservatives who run this country. The article is basically saying American imperialism has a long history of bipartisanship and there's no reason to expect the U.S. to give up on it's empire building ways just because a Democrat is in the White House.

I believe there is hope that Kerry might pursue more enlightened policies than Bush. Kerry has already stated that we need to declare energy independence. That's a great place to start to change the international power structure that has led to the current terrorist problems.
