I think his point was that MSFT and INTC were, once upon a time,
good little companies with neat little products. In 1981, mini-
computers and mainframes still roamed the earth - what could you
do with the little microprocessors that Intel made? In 1982, Micro-
soft had a single niche product, the operating system for PCs.
Remember, it wasn't certain in 1982 if PCs would be embraced the
way they were. If you wanted to play the PC card, the safe investment
was IBM, not little companies like MSFT or INTC.

Do I believe that IOMG will become the Microsoft of storage solutions?
Probably. Do I believe that storage will ever be as sexy as general
software (MSFT) or processors (INTC)? That's more doubtful. On the
other hand, if anyone can make storage sexy, its IOMG. They've already
taken storage from boring ads in the back of PC magazines to TV
commercials.
