By putting in as many troops as needed to secure Iraq and then hand it over to the International community
I like what Imus told Richardson about this line of thought.
Richardson: Well, Kerry has been on the Foreign Relations Committee for twenty years, he knows these foreign leaders, he will be able to get us international support in Iraq.
Imus: Yeah, those countries will be in a real hurry to send their people to Iraq so they can get beheaded. That's crazy talk, Governor.
Richardson: Well, it's election time, Don.

See, there are a lot of democrats that still have some semblance of sanity in this debate beyond talking points (=crazy talk in Imus-speak, election-year-talk in Richardson-speak). If France won't put in troops to stop the genocide in Rwanda and Sudan, I can't figure out why they would put in any substantial chunk of the 250,000 troops that Kerry implies is needed in Iraq.
Even the Kerry surrogates on CNN had a tough time trying to not roll their eyes when they mouthed these talking points about bringing in French and German troops.
Actually, What German troops? Has anyone seen german troops anywhere these days? If Germany had troops, the US would be able to pull back the 70,000 troops stationed around Germany and redeploy in Iraq. |
