There is/was a dd214.pdf file on kerry site.

I know nothing about military record keeping. This one appears to cover 2 transfers. One dated (Date of Entry) 19Aug66, the other 03-01-70: Released from active duty Transfered to naval reserve.

Both state 'terminal date of reserve/umt&s obligation 17-02-72'

The second (in remarks area) says '13b no discharge certificate issued at time of separation'

Another peculiarity is that ALL the pdf files show:

Creator: Adobe Acrobat 6.0
Producer: Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Image Conversion
Created: 4/21/04 4:2n:nn
Modified: 4/21/04 4:2n:nn

Moreover, in all cases the Service Numbers and Soc numbers are redacted, but they are DIGITALLY redacted: The edges are pixel sharp and perfectly aligned to the digital image, not the real world image i.e. the rectangles are perfectly along the pdf file digital axis. They have NOT been scanned into PDF format after redaction. Nor have they been subject to lossy compression. No Question.

Did the Feds do the redaction and ship pdf (or other UNCOMPRESSED (or loss less ) images) to Kerry site? I thought they still shipped paper copies.

Did Kerry folks scan docs they do redaction?

There is no entry in the dd214.pdf file for any final discharge, but perhaps I missed it. It does state that he received the 'combat V' with his stars.
