Thanks. That's exactly what I believe. ERICY's insistence on GSM was in retrospect the death knell for them IMO. CDMA has so much more bandwidth, and according to QCOM, they are developing a CDMA system that will be transparent (ie work with) GSM. IMO, no one in the world will deploy large GSM systems in the future.
I wouldn't include Nokia in the list however, they only manufacture the phones. NT, LU, MOT and QCOM are the real threats.
I work for NT. I liked your comment about the RBOC's. Over the last year or so, actually since telecom 96, the IOC's are the ones leading the implementation of new technology. The RBOC's find themselves in the unenviable postion of having to protect their market share to the extent that they are basically in a state of inaction. Still, they are a force to be treated with respect.
