"Some of the "old, the dying and the chronically ill" appear to be catching on. According to a report from Fox News, an estimated 60,000 members of AARP, which endorsed "Obamacare," have turned in their cards and canceled their memberships in recent weeks."

Mj Comment:

AARP has been advertising heavily for their membership and insurance in this area.

Today, I learned that AARP is actually a middle man for United Health CAre. I contacted AARP about their insurances-----what an eye-opener.

By the time one buys all of the insurance one might need using AARP----- a significant proportion of a social security recipient's income is taken up in insurance costs.

There are policies that cover separately the following:

Medicare Supplementary that takes care of the amount that Medicare doesn't pay for hospitilzation

Drug (medicine coverage) which has 3 levels, called tiers of insurance. The tiers proscribe (not prescribe) what medicines you can buy and have coverage for under a given tier.

There is "no choice" in what you can buy--------if you are allergic to ingredients in the generics, sorry you pay for the pills that aren't on the list at full price.

Dental----very poor coverage. Maximum is about $1500. per year. Dental in the D.C. area can run into the thousands of dollars.

Vision------their card if used entitles you to a discount at the big mall places. No assurance that you get a discount at local professionals. This of course encourages people to frequent the big business places-------rather than support the local doctor.

Thus, by the time you are finished with perusing AARP's smorgasboard--------you could possibly have 4 insurance policies in addtion to the Medicare basic insurance.

Something is wrong with this picture. AARP endorsed the Obamacare package and now they want to profit from selling its members insurance that they profit from by soliciting the clients through AARP.
