He was right to back away. 2004 didn't see 2.6 million new jobs. But adjust this a few months this way -- March '04-March '05 -- and you'd have a number pretty close to that...

This means payroll employment has risen "by 2.4 million over the past year". Not too far off from the figure John Kerry called "far-fetched promises".


Tangentially, it's remarkable how similiar the graph of this recovery looks when compared to the post-91 recession recovery...
