HEADLINE: Quickturn launches Affinity Partnership Program; company to work with EDA, intellectual property, and industry-specific suppliers to provide "Best-in-Class" design verification solutions
DATELINE: MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.
BODY: April 7, 1997-- Quickturn Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:QKTN), today launched the Affinity Partnership Program, a new initiative formalizing the company's strategic relationships with third-party design and verification technology suppliers. Quickturn's purpose in establishing Affinity is to collaborate with other vendors to provide robust, "best-in-class" solutions for the verification of complex chips and electronic systems. The program is comprised of companies that fall into three categories: electronic design automation (EDA) suppliers, intellectual property (IP) providers and industry solutions suppliers.
"Affinity is the continuation of our effort to deliver an open simulation and emulation environment as well as the EDA industry's broadest and most comprehensive design verification solutions," said Naeem Zafar, vice president of marketing at Quickturn.
"We have been working closely with many of these companies on an individual basis for several years. Organization of these relationships under the Affinity program enables a higher level of cooperation between Quickturn and the members for the benefit of our mutual customers."
Affinity EDA Tool Partnerships feature certified design flows between Quickturn's tools and commercial EDA suppliers' tools covering every phase of verification.
EDA Tool Partners include: Cadence Design Systems for simulation integration, Chrysalis Symbolic Design for formal verification, Summit Design members for the benefit of our mutual customers."
Affinity EDA Tool Partnerships feature certified design flows between Quickturn's tools and commercial EDA suppliers' tools covering every phase of verification.
EDA Tool Partners include: Cadence Design Systems for simulation integration, Chrysalis Symbolic Design for formal verification, Summit Design for RTL emulation, and Systems Science for dynamic testbench tools and language development. The Affinity Program also delivers well-defined technical support channels to ease tool interface deployment and to ensure design success.
Quickturn is working with Affinity IP Partners to ensure that their IP can be easily ported for use with emulation. Working with these partners, Quickturn will make it easier to emulate IP blocks with proper internal visibility and debug flexibility.
Quickturn is also a member of the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance (VSI) whose goal is to provide an open standard for portable IP. LSI Logic is the first Affinity IP Partner and Quickturn supports secure use of LSI's CoreWare(TM) with its emulation products.
Affinity Industry Solutions Partners allow Quickturn to extend its verification solutions to address the specific needs of key markets such as telecommunications, data communications, wireless and multimedia. Industry Solutions Partners include: Logic Innovations for interactive media and data communications applications, Viewgraphics for multimedia applications, and Wandel & Goltermann for telecommunications applications.
"Our goal has been to provide a complete solution to our customers tovalidate their designs in real applications," said Zafar. "Our Industry Solutions partners have been able to offer products that allow emulation users in networking, telecommunications and multimedia areas to overcome system slow-down issues and dramatically reduce their time to emulation."
Quickturn Design Systems, Inc. is the industry pioneer in cycle-based simulation and reprogrammable emulation products for design verification of complex ICs and electronic systems. The company's emulation products create a "virtual silicon"(TM) representation of an electronic design to permit concurrent verification of ASICs and full-custom ICs with system hardware and software.
The company's high performance cycle-based simulation software is used to verify digital logic designs. Quickturn's customers include the leading electronics companies in the high-performance computing, multimedia, graphics and communications markets. Quickturn's verification solutions enable these companies to improve design quality, lower overall development cost and shorten time to market.
