The key word in the article is Optimized for 64 bit.
Beyond that in terms of graphics and bringing the internet to "life" this was a must do. Video game players are 64 bit and some are considering adapting these devices as set top boxes so gamers can play multiplayer games over the inet. MSFT wants to be on top of this as well as other contingencies know and unknown.
