As far as I know, the Software Publishers Association has always been strongly biased against Microsoft. I believe that they were formed primarily by a group of Microsoft's competitors. If this is not true, I'd be interested in hearing something genuinely positive that the Software Publishers Association has ever said about Microsoft. I'm sure it is quite debatable whether or not they are the most important trade organization in the software industry.

In response to your previous post, the person who the DOJ quoted about Java had much less influence than his position would imply and was generally ignored by the group. I can assure you that the group's intent was to create the fastest, most functional, most compatible Java system available. Of course Microsoft wanted to make enhanced Windows functionality available to Java programmers. This was in response to customer feedback, was Microsoft's publicly stated intent, and was no secret to Sun as you can see by reading the Agreement. As far as the DOJ excerpt, in a company with 20,000+ people, you will have all kinds of people and opinions.

Thanks,
Mike
