BLOGS FOR BUSH - New Jersey Papers Endorse Bush! Two major papers in New Jersey have endorsed President Bush. The Tretonian, and the Asbury Park Press.
From The Tretonian says it's "no contest":
On terrorism/homeland security, the Kerry campaign has consisted of a marathon of mixed signals and, yes, flip-flops. The only consistent thread running through the Kerry campaign has been its propensity to indulge in willfully dishonest, cheap-shot Bush-bashing. ... As a long-standing member of the Senate’s Select Committee on Intelligence, Kerry had been a loud voice warning repeatedly of the Saddam Hussein threat and calling repeatedly for strong-- and if necessary, unilateral -- military action to address that threat. But when those views turned out to be politically incorrect within his party, he in effect hit the delete key to erase his own previous speeches, op-eds and interviews. In those remarks he had warned of the serious threat the Saddam regime posed in the Middle East in light of international intelligence assessments that the volatile dictator possessed weapons of mass destruction. Kerry now opportunistically adds his voice to the chorus of partisan Bush-bashers charging that the president exaggerated or flat-out lied to "mislead" American into war. ... In a time of great peril, George W. Bush has stepped forward to provide, certainly not perfect leadership, but steady, unwavering leadership and, overall, effective leadership. We therefore urge -- strongly urge -- his re-election. From the Asbury Park Press says "Reelect Bush to second term". On spending:
...given Kerry's own track record on fiscal matters, his attacks ring hollow. There is nothing in his unremarkable 20-year Senate career to suggest he would do a better job of reining in spending. His ratings from taxpayer watchdog groups consistently identify him as one of the Senate's biggest spenders. To believe that Kerry would transform himself into a tight-fisted guardian of the national purse upon entering the Oval Office requires a major leap of faith. Many of the criticisms Kerry has leveled at Bush relate to the administration's failure to spend more -- for better equipment for the troops in Iraq, for stepped-up enforcement at the borders, for a fully funded No Child Left Behind program, for improved health care and for a variety of other social programs.
At the same time, Kerry says he will cut the federal deficit in half in four years without raising taxes on anyone but the richest 1 percent. Sorry, we don't buy it. And we question the judgment and credibility of any presidential candidate -- particularly one in wartime trying to cope with record deficits -- who stares into a TV camera and promises millions of Americans that he will not increase their taxes.
These endorsements can potentially help give Bush the necessary boost to take the state away from Kerry. If you live in the New Jersey area click here to get involved...http://www.georgewbush.com/NewJersey/bvhome.aspx |
