MSFT is a raving buy whether they are broken up or not. If they aren't, there is nothing on the forseeable horizon that can compete, and they will soon be at their competitive best destroying their competition by whatever means necessary, so they will dominate and investors will make a killing. If they are broken up, than shareholders will get pro rata shares in the babies. Since these babies will inherit the systems that dominate 90+% of the worlds software,OS, and major investments in communication such as WebTV, than they will continue to climb in their own right. Hence shareholders win in the end either way.

When Standard Oil was broken up, one of the unintended consequences that the government is famous for was the tripleing of JD Rockefellers net worth for the above reason. He got pro rata shares in the 6? babies, which went on to be come such companies as Exxon, Mobile,Citco, and I can't remember the others. Pretty good stocks to own I would think. So if the intention is to punish Bill Gates, Please, Hit Me Again.
