For any considering a cheap internet phone service like Magic Jack, bear in mind they are starting to add fees that they do not always tell you about upfront. Their service agreement stipulates there are some 'non ILEC' areas that require a pre-pay fee for you to connect.
It appears they've been operating under a fee loophole that is now being closed by other carriers and possibly the FCC. Anyway, most calls I make on Magic Jack work fine, but the number of 'non-ILEC' areas is increasing, and even includes some parts of the Midwest now.
If it gets much worse, I'll simply dump it at the end of the year and go to all cellphone.
30 bucks a year for phone service was ridiculously cheap. Not surprised that it won't last.
