God is not a torturer, there is no deserved 'penalty' for anything. Jesus did not 'pay' with his life. These are the interpretations by man of God into Man's Law, not God's Law. God and Jesus are/were Light. Anything that is 'NOT' Light is the Law of Man. Til the 'end', Jesus was trying to get us to see this, that we have created a world of 'Not Light' and chosen to believe in it, and that we can choose not to. If the Bible is seen as a tragedy full of pain and suffering, maybe there is another way to look at it? Maybe all the pain, suffering, and guilt we choose to feel is not real, but creations of the mind versus the spirit? You wrote,"The penalty for sin has always and will always be death." If Jesus washed away the sins of the world, why do you insist on putting them BACK? JMHO
