Bill: All biotechs, from Amgen on down, are a risk!!
Personally I like the sector right now because they have taken such a tremendous hit as a group.
As far as others having Cephalon's potential.. absolutely! I happen to know Cephalon a little better than most - but that didn't prevent me from losing thousands of dollars after the FDA's Myotrophin rejection. I may try to buy back in sometime in December if I have the money and the stock heads a little more South. I still feel good about CEPH's long-term potential, especially with drugs having a greater financial pay-off than myotrophin. Incidentally, to many educated minds, Myotrophin is the best thing out there right now ALS patients. I really don't think there was anything wrong with Cephalon's science. Cephalon's preparation for the FDA panel may have shortchanged the product and its potential users. I sincerely hope and pray that the FDA and Cephalon can learn to communicate better. Too many lives hang in the balance. I recently found an interesting article on the Internet written by an ALS patient at bcm.tmc.edu. The author asks the FDA, "Why are you protecting us to death?" I'm glad I'm not on the Advisory Panel. You can kill people no matter how you vote. A pretty thankless job, and I'm not sure that their own rules don't make it even tougher than it should be. So much for my preaching.
As far as other Bios that I like - ICOS. I like the management and the product pipeline.. and Bill Gates owns around 15% of the stock.
I've got a limit order in for more.
