Judge Roberts: A Judge for All
9/14/2005

Washington, D.C. –– Concerned Women for America (CWA) recognizes the Supreme Court Chief Justice nominee, Judge John Roberts, as a man who will protect the rights and liberties of all Americans.

“Professional and political agitators want justices to give special preference to people based on their group identity, like gender, age or race,” said Wendy Wright, CWA’s Executive Vice President. “We seek justices who will treat all people equally. Some special interest groups justify their existence by demanding special rights for their members, and liberal politicians hold the mistaken belief that all people of a certain gender, age or race think the same.

“As the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, we recognize that basic rights and liberties are only secure when guaranteed to all people equally and judges are blind to what ‘class’ people belong. Judge John Roberts has exhibited this ability to apply the law fairly, with respect for the fundamental liberties we all deserve.”

In Monday’s opening statements, Roberts promised: “If I am confirmed, I will be vigilant to protect the independence and integrity of the Supreme Court, and I will work to ensure that it upholds the rule of law and safeguards those liberties that make this land one of endless possibilities for all Americans.”
