The only drawback I saw was the price of the digital tapes (approx. $15/tape). However, you can get 6 hours on each tape without loss of quality. I've looked at that system as well. My long-term hope to to see recordable DVD players. That will allow me to junk the hundreds of VHS tapes I currently own that are just taking up space. The JVC system might be a nice system to bridge the 2-3 year gap before recordable DVD arrives at a reasonable price. Marc
