What is a correction?

If the market goes down 10% in one day is that a correction, even if it goes back up 10% the very next day?

The whole thing feels like the guy who's doctor tells him he's gonna have a heart attack so he lies down on the floor, get's back up and says "I've had my heart attack, I feel great now, where's the cigarettes?"

I'm very confused.
