Look at what he said to that gathering of ministers which they took to be a confession ... He said - more or less: "I do not think there is a nice way to say I have sinned". That is not the same as saying: "I have sinned". What he said is that there may be no nice way to say that phrase. Ever the weasel with words! And all those ministers fell for that line of deceit. He's too cleaver for his own good.
