RE: "Yes the POTS stuff is dead."

- Yes.

RE: "The big growth is all digital data wether its voice, data, video etc."

- Yes. Computer-based telephony over IP is the future.

RE: "If you look where Lu and NT are going and growing its in this area."

- Yeah, but how?
- Closed, not open is NT's approach. (NT = Nortel, not MS-NT)
- MS/Intel's approach is open. i.e. more OS/components to sell.

RE: "My suspicion is that Intel will attempt to own a complete piece of the whole pie. From a fiber optic back plane network ( as evidenced by its recent investments Williams???) to the CTI space - with DLGC to the big switches and routers (TBD) connecting to big servers(in house). A DSP and Analog acquisition/partner may also be on the cards IMHO (Analog Devices would be a perfect fit)."

- IMHO They don't want to own all of this.
- IMHO They want to own providing the components into this.
- Helping WIlliams ensures the groundwork is layed down.
- I don't think INTC wants to own this infrastructure though.
- The stuff that Intel's targeting is a $17B new market for Intel.
- This makes our squabbles with AMD look trivial.

PS I'm not up on DSPs, but I didn't think INtel's strategy was DSP? Your thoughts?
